INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (February 2, 2015) – Plow drivers are out all over the city treating roads after the overnight snowfall.

Indy Snow Force was activated Sunday. Ninety drivers reported to work at 11 p.m. Sunday to work through the night.  The main concern for DPW is freezing temperatures causing wet roads to become very slick for the morning commute. Plow drivers will be pushing away slush and spreading salt to combat icy patches.

DPW efforts to clear the snow started over the weekend. Forty-five plows were out starting at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Officials are also reminding residents to clear sidewalks.

“There’s a city ordinance that requires property owners to clear snow and ice off sidewalks,” said Scott Manning, a DPW spokesperson. “For folks that rely on those sidewalks to get to where they need to be, kids that are walking to the bus stop or persons with disabilities that rely on public transportation.”
