Slick, hazardous roads cause fatal accident on I-65 in Boone County

BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (Jan. 27, 2015) – Slick and hazardous roads caused a fatal accident and multiple other crashes on Interstate 65 Tuesday morning.

The first crash occurred in the south bound lanes just north of Lebanon around 2 a.m. An SUV rolled over around the 140 mm, but fortunately no one was injured.

A second crash occurred around 2:20 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-65 near the 141 mm. In this accident a semi hit the back of a Lebanon Police squad car. No one was injured in this accident either.

A third crash occurred around 2:55 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-65 at the 140 mm. This crash involved between four to five semis and a commercial van. One person was killed in this accident. A semi driver from Illinois had exited his vehicle to check out his truck, he was then struck and killed by another semi causing a chain reaction of crashes.

The lanes were closed for several hours.
