INDIANAPOLIS, IND. (January 26, 2015) – Today marks the four year anniversary of Officer David Moore’s death. Blair Milo, Mayor of La Porte and former classmate of Moore, wrote a moving piece that gave insight into what kind of leader he was.

Milo discusses the challenges of life in ROTC, but tells stories of how Moore was there throughout the entire process to push and challenge his peers.

“If you were doing push-ups in the mud, he was right there beside you doing push-ups in the mud – yelling at you to work harder, dig deeper, but right there with you.” Milo says.

An old football injury kept Moore from joining the Marines, but it could not keep him out of the line of service. He decided to join the IMPD.

Four years ago today Moore made a routine traffic stop and paid the ultimate price.

A scholarship for a Marine-option Midshipman at Purdue Navy ROTC was created in his honor. Milo goes on to emphasize the importance of carrying on his legacy of courage, honor, and commitment.
