Popular Bloomington restaurant catches fire

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (January 25, 2015) — The popular Bloomington restaurant, The Village Deli restaurant closed after a fire ripped through the eatery just after noon on Sunday afternoon.

Officials say employees smelled smoke and attributed the smell to a toaster, but upon further investigation found smoke inside a walk-in cooler.

Employees tried to put the fire out with extinguishers but it became too much and the restaurant had to be evacuated.

Bloomington Fire crews say no one was injured in the fire and that they do not know what started the fire.
