Police search for Indianapolis man wanted in connection with shooting of girlfriend

Akeem Gunn

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jan. 7, 2014)—Police are searching for a man who they said shot his girlfriend during an apparent argument.

Akeem Gunn, 28, is wanted on charges of aggravated battery, armed robbery and kidnapping.

Police said Gunn shot his 29-year-old girlfriend during an argument in the 3300 block of Broadway Avenue on Sept. 26, 2014.

Witnesses in the area were able to help police name a suspect.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital. She survived the incident.

Gunn is described to be about 6-feet-1-inches tall and 170 pounds. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police said Gunn also has warrants for robbery, carjacking and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon out of Beech Grove.
