  • Police search for silver Honda in connection with fatal hit-and-run on Indy’s south side

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Indianapolis Metropolitan police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash on the city’s south side. Around 9:15 p.m. Sunday, emergency crews were called to Stop 11 Road and Cherington Drive in response to reports of a pedestrian struck. A passerby stopped at the scene and saw two adult males lying in the roadway.   • One person slightly injured in apartment fire

    INDIANAPOLIS—One person was slightly injured in an apartment fire Sunday afternoon on the city’s far east  side. Fire crews were called to the 2200 block of Woodsmall Lane after fire broke out in an apartment at Lakeview Terrace Apartments. Firefighters say the flames were confined to one apartment. The injuries were not serious enough for the resident to be taken to the hospital . Damage has been estimated at $30,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation

  • Small house in woods suffers heavy damage

    INDIANAPOLIS—Firefighters  battled a fire in a small A frame house in the woods Sunday afternoon. Shortly after 4 p.m. fire crews were called to the 10100 block of East 25th Street. That scene is on the city’s far east side near East 25th Street and North Mitthoefer Road. The tiny house was located about 100 yards off the main road in the woods. Damage is estimated at $25,000.

  • West side crash sends SUV into front of tavern

    INDIANAPOLIS—One person was trapped after their SUV crashed into the front of a west side tavern Sunday. Around 5:15 p.m. emergency crews were called to West 10th Street and North Tibbs Avenue on a report of a structure collapse.   • Bones found in wooded area on southwest side

    INDIANAPOLIS–Metro Police are investigating an apparent death on the city’s near southwest side Saturday. Police were called to the 1600 block of West Oliver Street around 3:45 p.m. That scene is near Harding Street. Investigators found human remains in a wooded area at that location. Crime lab crews were called to the scene. Officers were stationed near the scene to secure the area where bones were found. Investigators are expected to return to the scene Sunday to continue their investigation.

    WESTFIELD, Ind.–Westfield Police are investigating what led up to a single vehicle crash Saturday afternoon. Shortly after 3:30 p.m. emergency crews were called to the area of US 31 and East 161st Street on a report of a single vehicle crash.     INDIANAPOLIS–49 high school bands from across the state competed Saturday in the annual Indiana State Fair Band Day competition.  Bands representing both large and small schools battled for a position in the evening Sweet 16 competition.     INDIANAPOLIS–Metro Police homicide detectives are investigating after a man died from injuries he suffered in a shooting early Sunday on the city’s northwest side.
