  • Much-needed rain comes to central Indiana

    Monday was the warmest day of the month with a high of 90 degrees. Temperatures dipped as the solar eclipse darkened skies Monday afternoon but rebounded before rain moved in and cooled the air a second time.     A solar eclipse will occur Monday afternoon.  Expect a warm humid afternoon with mostly cloudy skies. The total duration of the event is 2 hours and 51 minutes. It begins at 12:57pm and ends at 3:48pm. Peak sun blockage of 91.5% will occur at 2:25pm. Eclipse safety glasses are a must for viewing in order to avoid temporary or permanent eye damage.     A few areas picked up rain as a cold front approached the state Thursday. Indianapolis officially received .03″ of rain.     In spite of our dry month of August this has been a wet Summer. The good news for farmers is that our chances for rain will increase late this week. This has been a mild Summer so far.     Our sunny, dry weather will continue for the next two days. Temperatures will stay in the 80s and, while the humidity will rise, extreme heat is not expected.
