  • Home undergoing renovation goes up in flames

    INDIANAPOLIS–A house undergoing significant renovations caught fire late Thursday on the city’s west side. Crews from Indianapolis Fire Department were called to the 2200 W. Washington St. shortly before 10 p.m. The three-story structure had heavy fire showing. Although there was an initial report of a person possible trapped inside, rescuers determined that the structure was unoccupied. The property owner was on-scene. Damage was estimated at about $100,000. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

  • Woman seriously injured in east side house fire; 5 other people escape

    INDIANAPOLIS– A 21-year-old woman was injured early Thursday in a house fire on the city’s east side. Firefighters were called to the 3100 block of Elmhurst Dr. shortly before 1:30 a.m. Six people had been inside the residence–five of whom escaped without injury. The 21-year-old victim was overcome with smoke inhalation. She was transported in serious condition to a local hospital for treatment and observation.     INDIANAPOLIS–A 63-year-old man was found shot several times inside a residence on the city’s east side shortly after midnight Thursday. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police responded to a report of a person shot in the 800 block of N. Bradley Ave. The shooting victim was located, with at least three gunshot wounds to the mid-section of his body, according to investigators.   • Motorcyclist dies in crash on city’s northeast side

    INDIANAPOLIS — A motorcyclist was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Wednesday on the city’s far northeast side. The accident happened shortly after midnight near the intersection of E. 65th St. and Fall Creek Rd. in northeast Marion County. The male driver was transported to Methodist Hospital in very serious condition, according to an IMPD spokesperson. The victim was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.     SPEEDWAY – Excise officers with Indiana State Police arrested or cited nearly 200 people over the weekend in Speedway. Among those arrested or cited were 139 minors, 40 adults, and 15 juveniles on 245 charges. Excise officers issued 149 summonses for illegal possession or consumption of an alcoholic beverage.
