Indianapolis firefighters battle large fire on city’s northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS — Emergency units from the Indianapolis Fire Department battled a large residential fire on the city’s near northwest side early Friday morning.

Large flames and heavy smoke are involved at a residence in the 800 block of Roache St. Residents in the area tell CBS4 that this is the second time for a fire at this location within the past month or so.

The home was vacant, and there were no reports of injuries. IFD responded to the large fire around 2:30 a.m. and video from the scene showed heavy flames and smoke coming from the home.

Since the home was vacant, there were no working utilities. The home is considered a total loss, officials said.
