Fishers police investigate apparent armed robbery at hotel near I-69 and 96th Street
FISHERS, Ind. — Fishers police continue searching for a suspect following an apparent armed robbery Wednesday morning.
The crime took place just before noon at the Baymont Inn and Suites hotel near 96th street and I-69.
That’s where a confrontation between two men turned violent. The victim told police he was threatened by a man holding a long gun which was either a rifle or shotgun.
“The victim did report that the suspect displayed a firearm so this is a serious incident,” said Fisher Police Sgt. Tom Weger.
Fishers police quickly responded and set up a large perimeter around 96th street, but the armed suspect managed to escape.
Police are still investigating what actually led up to the crime, but at this point detectives do not think the armed stickup was committed at random.
“This was not a random act of violence. Rather this was an altercation between two people that know each other, but we still want to talk to all involved so we can get the full story,” said Weger.
No one got hurt during the robbery and the suspect still has not been arrested.
Police think they know who committed the crime, but anyone with information is still asked to contact Fishers police.
