East side shooting ends with S.W.A.T. search

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Metro police are searching for a suspected gunman after a S.W.A.T raid turned up nothing Saturday Morning.

S.W.A.T was exercising a search warrant at a home on Vermont St. near Sherman Dr. in connection to a shooting in the area. One man had been shot twice and police say they were trying to track down the alleged shooter.

Loud flash bangs could be heard as officers tried to break through the front door. After several attempts, they finally gained entry but didn’t find anyone inside.

Office Aaron Hamer with the Indianapolis Metro Police Department (IMPD) said the alleged suspect and the victim of Saturday morning’s shooting likely know one another, and police believe the violence is an isolated incident.

Authorities were called to the Marathon gas station at Michigan Rd. and Sherman Dr. shortly after 1 a.m. and found the victim bleeding profusely. The man suffered gunshot wounds to the arm and leg and managed to walk about two blocks from where police say he was shot on Vermont St.

The victim was not cooperating at the scene, according to police, and was taken to Eskenazi Hospital.

Motive is unknown at this point in time as IMPD continues to investigate.
