INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Spencer Pigot crashed Friday during practice for the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500.
His car was significantly damaged, but Pigot was able to get out of it on his own. He was taken to the infield hospital to be checked out.
He was checked, cleared and released following the crash.
“Just into turn two which has not really been an issue for us all week and before I knew it, I was backwards. I’ll have to look at everything and see what happened. The car was pretty safe, it wasn’t really that bad of a hit. I don’t think the car, the actually chassis, is damaged, so I think that’s a good sign and we’ll put some new parts on and go back out there tomorrow,” said Pigot.
Josef Newgarden crashed Thursday during practice, and was cleared to return to racing.
