INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Hatchimals are the hottest toy this holiday season, and several Indiana Walmart stores are expected to get new shipments Thursday.

How does it work? Well, each toy comes as an egg. You can hold them up to hear their heartbeats, flip the eggs for fun, and tap them. Sometimes the Hatchanimal inside will tap back! The toy will eventually hatch, revealing one of two different, cuddly critters.

Once they hatch, you can play games with them and teach them to walk, talk and dance. Learn more about them at the Hatchimals website.

According to Walmart, the following locations will begin receiving new shipments of the toys Thursday:

  • Walmart store #5443, 4650 S Emerson Ave, Indianapolis
  • Walmart store #1459, 7245 US 31 S, Indianapolis
  • Walmart store #1601, 2001 E 151st St, Carmel
  • Walmart store #923, 16865 Clover Rd, Noblesville
  • Walmart store #1557, 8300 E 96th St, Fishers
  • Walmart store #1518, 3221 W 86th St, Indianapolis
  • Walmart store #6476, 1894 Ridge Ave, Danville
  • Walmart store #2786, 9500 E US Hwy 36, Avon
  • Walmart store #1026, 3200 John A Williams Blvd, Bedford
  • Walmart store #870, 4040 N Newton St, Jasper
  • Walmart store #1783, 2700 W Broadway St, Princeton
  • Walmart store #492, 650 Kimmell Rd, Vincennes
  • Walmart store #2563, 735 N Gospel St, Paoli

The retailer said the Hatchimals, which cost around $60, will land on local store shelves starting Thursday with shipments continuing through Dec. 19. Each store is expected to receive dozens of the toys.

Finding them has been difficult—and some online stores are selling them for a considerable markup. We found several places selling them for up to $250!

Customers should call their local store to check on the status of shipments, which are part of a larger national shipment that numbers in the tens of thousands.

Walmart picked Hatchimals as one of the top 25 toys on its “Chosen by Kids List” released at the beginning of the holiday shopping season.

Walmart’s not the only chain expecting to get more of the season’s hottest toy in stock— Target said each U.S. store will receive a shipment of Hatchimals on Sunday. The chain is only allowing shoppers to buy two of them at a time.
