Early morning barn fire kills chickens, ducks and rabbits on city’s southeast side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Fire crews were on the scene Tuesday morning in response to a large barn fire.

Firefighters were called to the 6700 block of Mimosa Lane on the southeast side around 6:15 a.m. The barn is located near Acton Road and I-74.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, eight horses escaped the fire but several chickens, ducks and rabbits died.

The cause remains under investigation.
