Two lanes reopen on I-65 southbound after serious crash, fuel spill
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Emergency crews are on the scene of a serious traffic accident on I-65 southbound just south of 38th Street.
The crash resulted in a semi tractor-trailer rolling over and spilling nearly 55 gallons of diesel fuel onto the roadway. Two additional vehicles also were involved.
The crash caused serious injuries and police are having a difficult time locating some of the injured occupants of the vehicles because they were transported from the scene by Good Samaritans.
The interstate closure is expected to last two to three hours for the investigation, clean-up and wreckage removal. Two lanes reopened by about 8:20 a.m.
Indiana State Police say that traffic coming into downtown is highly encouraged to seek alternate routes, such as I-465 to I-70.
