A former doctor for USA Gymnastics faces sexual assault charges.

Larry Nassar is expected to be arraigned Tuesday morning in Michigan, according to our newsgathering partners at the IndyStar.

Nassar faces multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct involving at least one victim under the age of 13. The alleged abuse happened been 1996 and 2005 at Nassar’s home.

Nassar served as team doctor during four Olympics. He was a faculty member at Michigan State University before being fired on Sept. 20. He worked for Indianapolis-based USA Gymnastics for 29 years before leaving the organization in 2015.

USA Gymnastics said Nassar was let go due to “athlete concerns”; Nassar said he voluntarily left.

In a statement provided to the IndyStar, USA Gymnastics said, “As we previously have made clear, when USA Gymnastics first learned of athlete concerns regarding Dr. Nassar, those concerns were reported to the FBI and Nassar was dismissed from further involvement with USA Gymnastics.”

Nassar is also named in two civil lawsuits in California with anonymous plaintiffs. One plaintiff, an Olympic medal winner, said Nassar abused her and other gymnasts and that USA Gymnastics knew of his conduct. Another plaintiff said Nassar sexually abused her over several years.
