ROCHESTER, Ind. – A Fulton County man died after a crash involving a truck and a bike Thursday night in Rochester.

According to Indiana State Police, the crash happened around 8:20 p.m. Thursday on Old U.S. 31 near Fulton County Road 600 North in rural Rochester.

Preliminary investigation showed that a 2011 Dodge 1500 pickup truck driven by 24-year-old Garrett Sommers went over a hill and hit 21-year-old Merle Ramer as he was riding his bicycle.

Both the truck and bike were going southbound, police said, and it was dark at the time of the crash. Ramer was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said Sommers wasn’t hurt.

While the crash remains under investigation, police don’t suspect alcohol or drugs played a role.
