Lockdown lifted at Indianapolis elementary school after search for robbery suspect

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – An Indianapolis elementary school went on lockdown Wednesday after a nearby robbery.

According to Indianapolis Metropolitan police, Robey Elementary was on a precautionary lockdown while police looked for a suspect who robbed a nearby CVS.

The school is located at 8700 W. 30th Street.

IMPD said the suspect was armed with a handgun. Police described the suspect as a black male with a red mask or scarf, dark hoodie, dark pants. He may also be carrying a black or red bag, police said.

The lockdown at the school was lifted around 10:20 a.m. Police were still looking for the man.
