Plainfield correctional officer arrested on drug charges

PLAINFIELD, Ind. – A Plainfield Correctional Facility officer was arrested on Monday and is facing drug charges.

Officer Joshua M. Kirk allegedly trafficked tobacco and drugs into the facility. When he was questioned by the facility’s Investigation and Intelligence Division, he admitted to the trafficking with an offender, Charles Collins. After searching him, investigators found one gram of meth.

Investigators found an additional 79 grams of K2 Spice (synthetic marijuana) and one pound of loose tobacco after searching his vehicle.

Kirk was placed under arrest by the facility’s Correctional Peace Officer and taken to the Hendricks County Jail for processing.

He is charged with attempted trafficking with an offender, a level 5 Felony, dealing in synthetic marijuana, a level 4 Felony, and dealing in methamphetamine, a level 4 Felony.

“I would like to extend my appreciation to our investigative staff for their work surrounding this arrest; their efforts help keep our staff and facility safe,” said Plainfield Correctional Facility Superintendent Stanley Knight. “I would also like to emphasize we remain committed to seeking prosecution against anyone who attempts to compromise the safety and security of our facility by any means.”
