City-County Council approves Indy mayor’s plan to borrow $75M for roads, public safety

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indianapolis City-County Council approved on Monday’s the mayor’s request to borrow $75 million for road funding, public safety, city infrastructure projects.

The projects and expenses include $5.2 million for Indy parks improvements, $24.6 million for road and street improvements, and $21.4 million for upgrading Indy’s computer-aided dispatch system and E-911 system, $3.4 million for new voting machines, and $8 million for the construction of firehouse buildings.

Below is a complete breakdown and list of the four proposals that were passed unanimously.

PROPOSAL NO. 353, 2016 (Special Ordinance)

INTRODUCED: 10/10/2016   BY: Councillors Lewis, Gray, Oliver, Adamson and Simpson

REFERRED TO: Administration and Finance, Public Safety and Criminal Justice and Public Works Committees

DIGEST:  Authorizes the issuance and sale of general obligation bonds of the Consolidated City in an amount not to exceed $23,800,000 to procure funds to be applied to the costs of financing certain projects, together with expenses in connection with the issuance of the bonds, and other related matters
