‘Heil Trump,’ swastika, gay slur spray painted on Brown County church

BROWN COUNTY, Ind. – The Brown County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a church in Bean Blossom, Ind., was vandalized with spray paint Saturday night.

The vandals painted tags on the wall of St. David's Episcopal, depicting a swastika, a gay slur and the words “Heil Trump.”

Rev. Kelsey Hutto, the priest in charge at the church, told the Indy Star that she disheartened after finding the graffiti on the walls Sunday morning, but she’s trying to stay positive.

"Well, we must be doing something right," Hutto said. "We stated one time that doing the right thing was not always the popular thing. We were targeted for a reason, and in our mind it was for a good reason."

As Christians, Hutto said they need to respond to hateful acts with love and joy. That's what God calls on them to do, no matter what color people are, where they came from or who they love.

The church posted a message on Facebook, saying its members will continue to live out their beliefs and accept all people.
