Family searching for answers after woman dies in north side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- It was inside her home in the 4300 block of Norwaldo Avenue that 30-year-old Jessie Whitehouse was shot to death on Wednesday.

Her mother, Anna Whitehouse, remembers her daughter as a woman with a good job as a paralegal who loved to play volleyball.

“That was really the joy of her life,” she said. "She was hysterically funny.”

The Cathedral graduate moved into the home earlier this year. Neighbors we spoke to say she was quiet, but always warm.

“She wasn't afraid to live in that neighborhood, and she was friendly to everybody,” said Anna. "That makes the fact she was killed all the more troubling for those who knew her. You just don’t expect your child to get murdered."

IMPD is investigating her death as a homicide, but have said very little in terms of what they think happened. Anna says Jessie’s car, a dark blue, 1994 Ford Crown Victoria, was taken and that police recovered the vehicle not far from where she was killed.

Needless to say, the past 24 hours have been devastating for the family.

“These murders have to stop, she didn’t deserve this,” said Anna. “None of us deserved this.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS.
