Ray Skillman hospitalized following racing accident in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS – The owner of a major network of central Indiana dealerships was involved in a racing accident in Las Vegas last Thursday.
Ray Skillman of Ray Skillman Auto Group and fellow racer Travis Gusso went out of control past the finish line of a qualifying race and both came to a stop in the sand trap, according to NHRA.
Gusso reportedly exited the car on his own, but Skillman had to be extricated and transported to University Medical Center of Southern Nevada. He suffered a broken vertebrae, a broken rib, cuts and bruises.
According to the hospital, Skillman has since been released.
Skillman’s daughter-in-law, Laura Garrick Marlin, took to Facebook to provide an update and ask for prayers as the local businessman recovers.
“It could have been so much worse,” said Marlin. “His car rolled several times.”
“Please pray for him as he is in a lot of pain,” said Marlin. “I understand he is being discharged from the hospital today, and they will determine in the next few days when he will be home.”
