Police: Shooting victim crashes car near north side Indianapolis elementary school

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Indianapolis Metropolitan police are investigating a shooting on the city’s north side.

According to IMPD, a person was shot at a Citgo gas station at 71st Street and Michigan Road. The victim then drove away from the scene, eventually going off the road near Fox Hill Drive and Hoover Road near Fox Hill Elementary School.

The shooting victim was transported to St. Vincent in serious condition. Police said the individual was alert and conscious.

Fox Hill Elementary and the Orchard School briefly went on lockdown during the incident. The lockdowns have since been lifted.
