Man receives 35-year sentence for molesting boy multiple times in Westport
UPDATE (Jan. 23, 2018)– Marecio Palomino pleaded guilty to child molesting and received a sentence of 35 years in the Department of Correction. He will spend five years on probation when he’s released.
WESTPORT, Ind. – A Greensburg man was arrested Friday night, accused of sexually molesting a boy under the age of 14 on multiple occasions.
Investigators believe Marecio Palomino, 25, engaged in various forms of sexual conduct with the boy between September 2014 and December 2015 at a Westport residence.
The criminal investigation started when the child told his parents about the alleged incident. The boy then met with police and a forensic investigator last Wednesday explain exactly what had happened.
The child told investigators that Palomino told him not to tell anyone about the sexual acts, which investigators believe took place at least five times while the boy was under Palomino’s care.
A warrant for Palomino’s arrest was issued last Thursday and he was arrested Friday. He’s been charged with a single count of child molesting, a Level 1 felony. He could serve up to 40 years in prison under state law.
Palomino pleaded not guilty during an initial hearing Monday. His bond was set at $1 million. The case is scheduled to go to trial March 8, 2017.
