Police arrest man in connection with Columbus business burglary

COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus police arrested one man and were seeking a second in connection with a business robbery from Sunday night.

Officers responded to Rural King, 2985 N. National Rd., around 11:45 p.m. Sunday after a business alarm went off. When police arrived, they heard the sound of a saw cutting into the building.

The suspected burglars saw the officers and went inside the building. One of them, identified as Jeremy Vanatwerp, 34, later ran out of the business and into police custody.

Police didn’t locate the second suspect.

Vanantwerp went to the Bartholomew County Jail on a preliminary charge of burglary.
