IMPD conducting death investigation after skeletal remains found on south side
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Police are conducting a death investigation on the south side of Indianapolis.
The investigation is focused on a wooded area near the 465 exit ramp at U.S. 31. Police said human skeletal remains were found.
Indianapolis Metropolitan police said an anonymous call around 7:30 a.m. led them to the area. Homicide detectives and the Marion County Coroner’s Office are investigating and said the remains appeared to be human.
“Our homicide detectives will begin to do their investigation to follow up on anything regards to missing persons or anything to see if this individual was listed as missing,” said IMPD officer Aaron Hamer. “They will also look for other clues to see what happened here– was this a natural cause of death? Was this intentional?” he said.
Hamer said these cases can be difficult to solve when they don’t know much about the person.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317)262-TIPS (8477).
