Coroner identifies woman shot to death in car on west side
INDIANAPOLIS–Metro Police are searching for a suspect in a west side shooting Saturday night.
Shortly after 9 p.m. police were called to the intersection of West Michigan Street and North Belmont Avenue.
When they arrived, they found the body of a young woman in a car dead of an apparent gunshot wound.
On Tuesday, the victim was identified as Kortnee Hewitt, 23. The coroner said her death was a homicide and she died from two gunshot wounds to the head.
Police say she was driving the beige colored car that appeared to crash into a residential retaining wall.
Additional officers, including K-9, were called to the area to help with the search.
Homicide detectives and crime lab was also called to the scene.
