Driver identified after semi truck fatally crashes, catches fire on eastbound I-74 on Indy’s southeast side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A semi driver was killed after the truck caught fire following a crash on eastbound I-74 on the southeast side of Indianapolis Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at Acton Road just after 10:30 a.m. A witness told police that the truck immediately burst into flames.

The driver was identified Thursday as Michael Disney Sr., 65, of Indianapolis.

Investigators say there are no indications that another vehicle was involved.

One lane of the interstate was temporarily closed as emergency crews responded to the scene.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
