FISHERS, Ind. – A three-vehicle crash on northbound I-69 closed a ramp near State Road 37 and 116th Street in Fishers Sunday night.
Fishers police say the crash involved a Dodge minivan, a Chevy Malibu and a pick-up truck.
Officers say the van was going northbound and struck a concrete barrier wall, then went airborne and struck the Malibu that was also northbound. The engine block separated from the van, struck the truck and landed onto the roadway around 100 yards from the point of impact.
Officers tell CBS4 that the driver of the minivan was in “very serious condition,” and the occupants of the Malibu suffered “serious injuries.” Those three occupants were taken to an area hospital.
A crash team was called to the scene to investigate.
The debris field from the crash is described as being very wide and while motorists will be able to still go north on I-69, the ramp to SR 37 and the 116th Street exit will likely be closed for two to three hours as of 10 p.m. Drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
