Fort Hood authorities puzzled by disappearance of Indiana soldier

FORT HOOD, TX – Authorities in Fort Hood, Texas are puzzled by the disappearance of a 19-year-old soldier from Indiana.

Pvt. Dakota Stump, of Indianapolis, was last seen Monday night around 9:45 p.m. when he left his barracks room.

He left all of his possessions and cash, and it appeared as if he intended to return, a Fort Hood spokesperson said.

Stump is 5’5” tall, weighs 140 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes.

He is assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division’s Apache Troop, 4th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team. He drives a black Ford Mustang with red interior.

Officials spoke with his mother and brother, and they’re asking anyone with information to contact authorities.

Authorities released the following statement to CBS4on Friday:

We can confirm that Pvt. Dakota Stump went missing Monday evening. Every effort is being made by the 1st Cavalry Division to find Pvt. Stump. We are also working closely with local law enforcement agencies as appropriate by jurisdiction, and are maintaining close contact with his family.

Our first and foremost concern is Pvt. Stump’s safety and health. Finding him quickly is the first step to ensuring both of those things.
