Police search for three men who robbed Lawrence church congregation at gunpoint
LAWRENCE, Ind. – Lawrence police are searching for three men who robbed a church congregation at gunpoint.
Police responded to a report of a hold up at Centro Cristiano Church on North Franklin Road around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Officers came into contact with the congregation who said they were in the church when they were robbed by three men at gunpoint.
According to the victims, one of the suspects stayed at the door and pointed a gun at the congregation. He is a black male between 5’7” and 5’10” tall, skinny, weighing around 130 to 140 pounds. He is in his mid-twenties, wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and white/black tennis shoes. He was armed with a black handgun.
The second and third suspects also pointed guns at the congregation, forcing them to the ground and making them remove items from his pockets. They are black males between 5’7” and 5’10” tall and also in their mid-twenties. They were wearing a black hoodie, gray/black pants, white/black tennis shoes and armed with a handgun.
The third suspect also threatened to shoot the victims.

The men took personal items from the victims’ pockets and small amounts of cash belonging to the victims.
“The one who standing right here he went this area right here, he went up there grabbed the pastor from the arm and get it to the gun put on his head,” said parishioner David Ble as he showed us what happened.
The suspects may have fled north and west around the building after the robbery.
Ble said the robbery would not stop the congregation from coming to the church to worship, but he wonders why someone would target them.
“We know that this is not gonna stop us. They make us stronger cause we know God is with us. We see His hand last night with us,” said Ble.
