Traffic stop leads to drug bust in Brown County
BROWN COUNTY, Ind. — Earlier this week Indiana State Police conducted a traffic stop on SR 46 near Gnawbone, which is just east of Nashville. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jami M. Martin, of Columbus, Ind.
During the stop, Martin attempted to exit the vehicle, while the trooper instructed him more than once to remain in the car. Martin then placed his vehicle in gear, traveling west through a parking lot, and then through a yard as he attempted to come back out onto State Road 46. Seeing he could not enter back onto State Road 46, Martin exited his vehicle and ran behind some residences on State Road 46. He was apprehended a short time later.
Two bags of a crystal-type substance were discovered on Martin. Another three bags of the substance were located under a tree where Martin had been hiding.
Also found in the same place was a hat Martin had been wearing when he tried to get away. Martin admitted the substance found on him was methamphetamine. He was taken to the Brown County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, resisting law enforcement and obstruction of justice.
