Police arrest man in west side hit-and-run crash that seriously injured child, grandmother

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – IMPD has made an arrest in a case last month where a truck hit a child and grandmother on the west side and then fled the scene.

The incident occurred on September 21 in the 4400 block of West Washington Street.

A grandmother was pushing a stroller with a little girl north across Washington Street when a pickup truck driving westbound from Fleming Street hit them.

The child was ejected from her stroller, and the truck fled the scene.

At the time, the child was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in critical condition. The grandmother was in good condition.

Police located the pickup truck, a black 1999-2002 Chevrolet Silverado, involved in the crash on September 27.

Benjamin Harrison, 31, turned himself in on Tuesday, October 11 at the Arrestee Processing Center after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Harrison is charged with failure to stop at an accident involving serious bodily injury and failure to stop at an accident involving injury.
