Homeless suspect arrested for murder of Monroe County man
UPDATE: John Henry Griffin was found not guilty for the murder of Donald Gentry, it was the only charge he faced.
In June, Christina Harmon was also found not guilty for the murder of Gentry.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Authorities have charged a homeless suspect for the murder of a Monroe County man in September.
Officers believe John Henry Griffin, 63, is responsible for the death of Donald Gentry, 66, who was found dead in his home in the 4500 block of Old State Road 37, a mile south of Bloomington.
Officers say Griffin is a registered sex offender, as the result of a conviction in Bartholomew County for sexual misconduct with a minor. His address is listed as homeless, but officers say he lives in the Bloomington area.
The Bloomington Police Department and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department began investigating Griffin two weeks ago. Through the investigation, officers say potentially significant items of evidence were found and Griffin’s vehicle was seized for future forensic examination.
Griffin was brought in for questioning Tuesday afternoon and later booked into the Monroe County Correction Center.
