Anderson University eliminating 16 programs as part of plan to strengthen school

ANDERSON, Ind. – Officials with Anderson University announced Monday that they will begin phasing out 16 of their programs as part of a larger plan to strengthen the school.

The following Anderson University programs will be phased out:

  • Doctor of Ministry
  • Master of Intercultural Studies
  • Master of Music Education
  • Master of Science in Nursing
  • Church music
  • Economics
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Information systems
  • Instrumental performance
  • Sociology
  • Voice performance
  • Intercultural studies
  • Speech
  • Early Childhood Education (minor)
  • Jazz studies (minor)
  • Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages/TESOL (minor)

The university will also combine some of its majors that are closely aligned and consolidate the number of concentrations available in some majors.

Additionally, the school plans to invest in some existing programs, including adding faculty to the dance program and filling faculty openings in accounting, electrical engineering, music education and public relations.

The school will also be making some changes to their sports programs. They say this will be the last season for men’s and women’s golf and for men’s and women’s tennis. AU will also begin recruiting for lacrosse, with the intent of fielding men’s and women’s teams for NCAA Division III play in 2018-19.
