Attempted robber arrested after Family Dollar employees, Good Samaritan take him down

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Family Dollar employees and a Good Samaritan took down a man who was allegedly attempting to rob a near southeast side store Friday.

Witnesses say the suspect, Kenneth Reynolds, 52, was attempting to steal laundry detergent when employees intervened.

Reynolds reportedly told the employee to move and said he had a gun. The employee refused to move and blocked the exit. Reynolds then allegedly became violent and attempted to push his way past the employee. Then, two other employees and a Good Samaritan got involved.

An IMPD officer patrolling in the 2200 block of Prospect Street noticed the altercation at the Family Dollar around 2 p.m. Reynolds was being held down by the employees and the Good Samaritan when the officer arrived. The officer intervened and Reynolds was taken into custody.

Reynolds was arrested and preliminarily charged with robbery.  He was then transported to the Arrestee Processing Center for booking.
