Police: Driver escapes after crashing stolen car on near north side; 4 juveniles detained
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Police say four juvenile suspects were detained after crashing stolen car on the near north side.
IMPD officers were patrolling in the area of 2400 North Keystone Avenue when they came across a stolen vehicle around 5 p.m. Friday. An officer attempted to pull the car over, but the vehicle fled.
Police pursued the vehicle for about two miles. As the suspect vehicle traveled west on East 16th Street, it came up on a Ford Mustang at a high speed. The Mustang attempted to get out of the way, but the vehicle struck it.
The suspect lost control and crashed into a utility pole in the 500 block of East 16th Street. The driver jumped out and ran from officers.
Four juveniles inside the car were arrested. Police were unable to find the driver.
The driver of the Mustang suffered a minor injury. One of the juveniles was transported to Eskenazi Health with non-life threatening injuries.
None of the juveniles have been arrested. Police said they are being detained until their exact involvement can be determined.
