A New York man says he stumbled across a strange and creepy situation while hiking in a wooded area of Long Island.

He recorded video as he walked through the woods, which has missing persons posters attached on trees as part of an apparent Halloween decoration. One of those posters is for missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer.

He called police to investigate and put the video on his Facebook page. He said they investigated and told him the property owners put them up as decoration for a Halloween party.

The videos can be seen below. *Warning: Viewer discretion advised, videos contain profanity.

He said he uploaded the videos so that he wouldn’t have to hand his phone over to police for the investigation. He also wanted to alert his friends to his location because he wasn’t sure what he had just stumbled upon.

Police reportedly told him that the homeowner would be taking the “decorations” down after Halloween and they wouldn’t be investigating further.

The Spierer family posted about the video on their official Facebook page.

“We have seen the video comprised of many missing persons’ posters, including Lauren’s, placed in the woods. I cannot comprehend what would compel someone to find this amusing or entertaining. Clearly they are not a family member of a missing person,” the post reads.
