HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. – A man was killed in a crash in Hamilton County Friday night.

Authorities believe Steven E. O’Neal, 29, was traveling eastbound on 296th Street when he ran off the road, struck a utility pole and overturned east of the intersection with Carpenter Road.

The sheriff’s office responded to the crash on the northeast side of Hamilton County around 10:33 p.m. Responding officers and fire units found O’Neal trapped inside the vehicle and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

O’Neal’s cause of death is under investigation, but police say high water from recent rains may have been a contributing factor in the incident.

Anyone with additional information should contact the Sheriff’s Office at 317-773-1282.
