INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A cosmetology school with campuses throughout central Indiana closed its doors Wednesday.
The Regency Beauty Institute announced the closure of all 79 of its campuses on Facebook.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce that all Regency Beauty Institute campuses are permanently closed as of September 28, 2016. Thank you for sharing your amazing artistry with us. We regret that we cannot answer questions here. Please visit www.regency.edu”
The business says they didn’t have the money to continue on.
“There are multiple intertwined reasons: declining numbers of cosmetology students nationwide, a negative characterization of for-profit education by regulators and politicians that continues to worsen and, in light of these factors, an inability to obtain continued financing.”
Regency is asking all students to return for their personal items Thursday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. or Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The schools will not be open any other time.
As for transcripts, the school says students do not need to request them. They are mailing them to every current student, including any student who was enrolled within the last 120 days.
Regency has posted more on information for current students on its website, including how they can go about finishing their program.
