Four Henry County inmates charged with setting fire inside jail
NEW CASTLE, Ind.– Four inmates in the Henry County jail face charges after allegedly setting a fire in the facility.
Authorities say Jacqueline Anderson, 30, Erin Linville, 36, Anna Santee, 32 and Chelsea Norfleet, 23 each face a felony arson charge.
The prisoners allegedly set materials on fire to ignite a mattress around 1:15 a.m. on Aug. 3. Smoke poured into the rest of the jail, necessitating the evacuation of all inmates; the men went to the recreation yard while the women went to the classroom section. Inmates were back in their cells after about an hour.
There were no injuries from the fire, although Major Jay Davis from the Henry County Sheriff’s Department said one inmate went to the hospital with an unrelated medical condition.
The day before, a fire was set by male inmates.
Linville and Norfleet are serving time for methamphetamine charges, while Anderson and Santee are awaiting trial.
If convicted, the arson charge could add up to 12 years to their sentences.
