Police investigating deadly shooting on northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Homicide detectives were called to a deadly shooting on the northeast side of Indianapolis Wednesday night.

Officers were called to the 3100 block of North Gladstone Avenue to investigate reports of shots fired in the area.

When they arrived on scene, officers say they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the leg in the 4200 block of East 32nd Street.

According to officers on scene, the victim’s femoral artery was hit by a bullet and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified him Thursday as Ivan Barnes, 41, Indianapolis.

Investigators have not released a suspect description.
