Muncie man sentenced to probation, community service for killing puppy
MUNCIE, Ind. – A Muncie man that killed a puppy will not serve any more jail time.
Jacob Rodgers, 27, was arrested on September 22, 2015 after his roommates told police he killed an 8-month-old puppy. They told police Rodgers became extremely angry after the puppy wet his bed, and he told them he was going to kill the dog.
His roommates reported to police that he locked himself in his room, and they heard him hitting the dog. His roommates said he also put the dog underwater in a bath tub.
On June 23, Rodgers pleaded guilty to torturing or mutilating a vertebrate animal. The charge carries a maximum 30-month prison term.
On August 5, Rodgers was sentenced to 18 months of supervised probation and 35 hours of community service.
