IMPD credits citizens’ quick actions in arrest of robbery suspect on east side
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– IMPD credits the quick action of citizens in arresting a robbery suspect on the east side.
Officers were called to the Shell gas station at 8501 block of East Washington Street around 9 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a robbery.
The suspect entered the gas station and implied he had a weapon. After demanding money, he fled from the store. Police say citizens saw the suspect and called to report the incident with his description, along with the direction of travel and the vehicle he was in.
Officers were able to locate the vehicle and pull the suspect over. They found evidence with him that linked him to the robbery.
Detectives followed up at the scene and were able to file charges against Johnny Anderson, 18, of Indianapolis. He faces preliminary charges of robbery, theft and possession of a controlled substance.
