Dangerous heat will build in later this week
The big story of the week is the HEAT. It will get stifling and dangerous by Friday and Saturday afternoons. Those will also be the hottest days. Here is what we can expect each afternoon around 3pm for the next 4 days. It will feel like triple digit heat by Thursday afternoon. Looking ahead to Saturday, which will be the hottest day, heat indices will be around 110 by 3 pm.
Hazy sunshine will be with us today along with highs in the upper 80s and heat indices in the low 90s. We will stay dry today.
We have small rain chances on Wednesday and Thursday, but we’ll see a lot more dry time than wet. Looking ahead, it’s a big weekend out at IMS. Saturday is the qualifying and an X-finity race and it will be dangerously hot at IMS. Temperatures will be in the mid-90s with heat indices around 110 by mid-afternoon. For the Brickyard 400 on Sunday, temperatures will be around 90 with high humidity, but we should get the race in dry. T-storm chances go up Sunday evening.
We will see some relief from the stifling heat early next week with increasing rain chances.
