INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - A new, data-driven website is designed to look at what works and what doesn’t for different Indianapolis neighborhoods and how to make them better moving forward.
IndyVitals measures how the initiatives are doing to reach those goals for each neighborhood in Marion County.
It’s simple to use: users pick a neighborhood to look at from a drop down list on the homepage. From there, choose from 20 topics for a closer look, including population, income, jobs, unemployment and crime.
“The data just kind of helps be a starting point for telling the story of neighborhoods,” said Sharon Kandris with The Polis Center at IUPUI. “It brings together the information in a consistent way about a consistent geography, so neighborhoods and organizations that really want to start to build upon their vision or start to establish that vision they can use this data.”
A free event on Thursday will take a closer look at IndyVitals:
- Thursday, June 30
- 7:45- 10:00 a.m.
- WFYI Community Room – 1630 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis
