SHERIDAN, Ind. – Police say one man is in custody after an early-morning police chase that spanned several counties.

The chase started after police say the man robbed a gas station in Tippecanoe County.

According to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department, a man robbed the Circle K gas station in Dayton shortly before 2 a.m.

The man reportedly fled and was last seen heading south on I-65 in a gray vehicle.

A short time later, officers with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department spotted the vehicle getting gas next to another crime scene they were working. The suspect vehicle fled and a chase ensued.

The chase led officers south on I-65 through Boone County, crossing briefly into Marion County before heading back north on I-65. The suspect then exited the interstate and traveled west on State Road 47 into Hamilton County before he was finally stopped on State Road 38 near Sheridan.

Boone County Sheriff Mike Nielsen said there was another armed robbery at a convenience store in Jamestown on Friday night. He said the suspect from the Tippecanoe County robbery matched the suspect description from that Friday robbery.

Police say the man was checked out by medics, but was not injured during the chase. He was arrested for fleeing and resisting arrest, and is being booked into the Boone County Jail.

No injuries were reported during the robbery in Dayton.
