Inmate dies after being found unresponsive in Tippecanoe County Jail cell

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. – An inmate at the Tippecanoe County Jail died after being found unresponsive in his cell around 12:52 p.m. Saturday.

The sheriff’s office says Joseph L. McClimans, 37, was unresponsive due to an apparent medical emergency.

McClimans was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance, then transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was pronounced dead at 12:42 p.m. Sunday.

The investigation is ongoing.
