CARMEL, Ind. - Motorcycle Safety classes around Indy are filling up quickly, according to some new providers.

“We’re currently booked through the middle of June and we just announced (classes) last week," Owner of Harley Davidson of Indianapolis David Dellen said. "There’s not enough classes to be honest and we are trying to fill that need."
Dellen joined six other Harley dealers around the state to begin offering safety classes this year. He said he wants to do his part to keep drivers and motorcyclists safe.

“The number of people that die from it is very, very scary," Dellen said. "We want to lower that number year by year.”

In 2013, there were 114 motorcycle fatalities, 124 in 2014 and 108 in 2015, according to the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.

"How many of those people could have been saved from a course? No one knows, but we know it could have probably been a (smaller) number," Dellen said.

The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is also joining the fight to curb motorcycle fatalities in Indiana. Earlier this year, the BMV launched a new program, "Ride Safe Indiana," designed to put all the motorcycle safety and training courses across the state under one umbrella.
